Federation primer & status

The Burton Group's Gerry Gebel has written an excellent, long article for Network Computing introduced as " Federation is making it easier to maintain authority across multiple domains. But essential security standards are maturing at an uneven rate. We weigh the risks and rewards of federated ID management."

It's a good introduction as well as a snapshot of the "state of the industry".
