The elephant in the room becomes the 800-pound gorilla

Oracle Corporation is now on track to become the leading Identity Management vendor after acquiring both OctetString (and it's Virtual Directory Engine) and Thor Technologies (and it's provisioning systems}.

Oracle Identity Czar Prakash Ramamurthy (himself only on-board since spring when Larry Ellison acquired Oblix) really does seem to have been given the green light (and the big pile of money) to put together an all-star lineup in the Identity League. They've now leapt way beyond what Microsoft is offering with only Sun Microsystems and IBM having as broad and deep a portfolio of Identity products. This will definitely be a wild ride!
