Do you know who I am?Declan McCullough is a young beardless opiner for CNET. Recently he mediated (conducted?) an email discussion between representatives of the Recording Industry Association of America on the one hand and the creators of the new "Freenet" peer-to-peer system which was published under the rubric "Piracy and peer-to-peer."But to ask the question "Is it possible to guarantee completely anonymous online activity using technology alone?" and to accept the answer "...it is hopefully possible to guarantee anonymity against someone with the resources of, for example, the Chinese government. " simply shows a woeful lack of information about how the internet works. Just ask anyone who decides to track down a spammer, people who go to extraordinary lengths to attempt to be anonymous. Get yourself a basic reference on IP networking, Declan, then come back and tell us what you've learned! Comments: Post a Comment
